Diabetes is a condition which occurs in the body, when the body fails to produce enough of Hormone insulin or unable to use effectively, which results in High blood sugar levels (Glucose levels). This imbalance can lead to Heart disease, Nerve damage, Kidney disease, Vision loss and various other complications.
Diabetes of two types
Type - 1
Insulin dependent, which occurs before the age of 30.
Type - 2
Non-insulin dependent Diabetes which accounts for 90% of the cases.
What Causes Diabetes
When pancreas stop producing Insulin may be because of viral or an auto-immune response, the body attacks its own pancreatic cells, thereby precipitating condition known as Type-1 Diabetes. In type-1 Diabetes, the person has to take Insulin life long.
Type-2 develops from Insulin resistance, the pancreas secretes plenty of Insulin, but the body cells don't respond to it. Obesity plays a major role to type-2 Diabetes; Genetic factors may be the contributor to the onset of both types.
